The information below is meant to help guide you through the process and prepare you for your surgery with us.\u00a0Please note that this information is for educational purposes only; your physician and\/or one of our staff members\u00a0will personally go over the specific details of your procedure with you.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Prior to\u00a0Surgery<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Do not eat or drink anything after midnight:\u00a0<\/strong>This includes coffee, tea, gum, and mints. Drink plenty of fluids up until midnight to make sure you are well hydrated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Prescribed Medications:\u00a0<\/strong>If your surgeon has given you a prescription, we recommend that you pick up your medication BEFORE the day of surgery. If not, your physician will write you a prescription upon discharge.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Assign a Designated Driver:<\/strong> If you&#8217;re having surgery on an outpatient basis, we require that a responsible adult accompanies you home and is available to help you for the first 24 hours after surgery. We STRONGLY discourage taking a taxi or any type of public transportation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Prepare Your Home:\u00a0<\/strong>Move any items that you will need after surgery to waist level to avoid any excessive lifting or bending<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Day of Surgery<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Clothing:<\/strong> Wear loose, comfortable clothing and shoes. Do not wear anything tight fitting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Arrival Time:<\/strong>\u00a0Patients are asked to arrive two hours in advance of their scheduled surgical time for two important reasons: First, it could take up to 40 minutes to get you ready for surgery. Secondly, some procedures can take less time than anticipated; in which case your procedure may occur earlier than anticipated. If that should occur, it is important that the preliminary steps have been completed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>DO Bring to the Hospital:<\/strong> Contact lenses\/glasses, insurance card(s), a photo ID, a list of all medications you are currently taking.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>DO NOT Bring to the Hospital:<\/strong> Valuables such a jewelry and extra money.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">After Surgery<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">You will receive instructions for your home care before leaving the hospital. Be sure that you understand these instructions and follow them carefully. Speak with your doctor if you have questions or concerns.\u00a0To plan for your care at home, ask your doctor about:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Any new medications you will be taking<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Warning signs <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Your follow-up care<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Safe activities you can do after surgery (climb stairs, exercise, etc.) and any special equipment needs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Incision and bandage care<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We understand that surgery can be a daunting experience, no matter the scale.
